MADISON, Wis. — Ed Garvey, former executive director of the National Footbal League Players Assn., announced his candidacy today for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate.
Garvey made his announcement in the Madison campaign headquarters he used in his unsuccessful bid last year to oust Republican Robert W. Kasten. His latest bid is for the post being vacated by Sen. William Proxmire (D-Wis.), who is retiring next year after serving since 1957.
