Rev. Jesse Jackson announced Monday that Assemblywoman Maxine Waters (D-Los Angeles) will co-chair his California campaign for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination. Jackson said Waters will be teamed with Assemblyman Tom Bates (D-Oakland).
Jackson, speaking at a news conference in Los Angeles, noted that whites, blacks, Asians, Latinos and women are among the leaders of his California campaign.
Assemblywoman Waters was state chairwoman of Jackson's campaign in the civil rights leader's first attempt to win the nomination.
