A Bavarian court sentenced a former U.S. Army sergeant to two years in prison for having unprotected sexual relations with three men even though he knew that he was afflicted with AIDS. The court convicted Linwood Boyette, 46, of attempted assault on grounds he had been indifferent to the danger of spreading acquired immune deficiency syndrome and had taken no precautions against it. "A person infected with AIDS must practice safe sex or abstain," the court said in sentencing the former soldier.
