Lottery

November 20, 1987

I have never and will never buy a lottery ticket or play Lotto until some changes are made. Why? Because I think it is ridiculous to make the jackpots any larger than $1 million or perhaps $2 million to any one winner.

No one needs nor can they spend any more than that in their lifetime. Instead of one person winning $20 million, we could have 20 $1-million winners or 10 $2-million winners. One need not be a mathematical genius to know that many more people would buy tickets with such improved odds.

Also if the $2, $5 and $10 winners were changed to $200, $500 and $1,000 you would see a dramatic increase in sales of tickets.

Until something like this is put into effect, I'll just keep my money, and maybe take it to Las Vegas. At least there I have a chance.
