Residents seeking to dispose of common household toxic materials can take them to the city maintenance yard in East Irvine on Saturday.
The city's garbage collector, Dewey's Rubbish Service, will accept a range of potentially hazardous materials, including herbicides, pesticides, old paint and paint thinners, turpentine, pool chemicals and glues.
It will not accept explosives, compressed gas cylinders or anything radioactive, city officials said.
City officials also warned that it is illegal to transport more than five gallons of liquid waste or 50 pounds of solid hazardous wastes in an automobile.
The city yard, located at 15029 Sand Canyon Ave., will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
