A plan to disband Stanton's Police Department will be heard at Tuesday's meeting of the City Council. The Sheriff's Department has said it can provide law enforcement service to the city for between $2.2 million and $2.6 million annually--less than the $2.9 million Stanton now spends each year to maintain its own Police Department. Earlier this month, voters in the city turned down a property tax increase to help maintain the department.
