Heavyweight Dwain Bonds upset 1984 Olympic gold medalist Henry Tillman at Las Vegas, stopping him after eight rounds of their scheduled 10-round fight at the Showboat Hotel.

Bonds, 220 1/2, dropped Tillman, sluggish at 226, the heaviest of his career, once in the first round with a left to the head and twice in the seventh with left-right combinations to the head. Bonds is 16-12-1, Tillman 17-3. Both boxers are from Los Angeles.
