A man indicted last month in connection with 12 bank robberies in San Diego County, who is suspected of committing up to seven more while being hunted by the FBI, was arrested Sunday, authorities said.
Lawrence Edward Ream, 27, was arrested about 11:30 a.m. Sunday at a motel in the 4600 block of De Soto St. in San Diego, according to FBI spokesman Jim Bolenbach.
Ream is in custody at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center and is expected to appear before the U.S. magistrate in San Diego today, authorities said.
He was indicted Oct. 9 by a federal grand jury in San Diego in connection with a dozen bank robberies since July 28 in San Diego, Del Mar, La Jolla, Encinitas, Oceanside, San Marcos and Escondido, Bolenbach said.
Ream is also a suspect in seven other bank robberies, including Friday's robbery of the La Jolla Bank & Trust in the 7300 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, Bolenbach said.
