Tv & Video

November 24, 1987|DEBORAH CAULFIELD and RICK SHERWOOD | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

M-M-M-Max Headroom, recently axed from ABC's schedule, became a true phantom of the TV airwaves Sunday when a Chicago video pirate briefly interrupted programming on superstation WGN and local public television station WTTW with a look-alike of the computer-generated character, it was reported Monday. Eyewitness accounts varied on whether the Max-masked intruder during both interruptions was a person or a puppet, but whatever-it-was bared his/its behind in front of the camera during the WTTW interruption. The Federal Communications Commission is investigating the incident.
