Iranian opposition forces have killed or wounded 1,350 soldiers and Revolutionary Guards in two major assaults in western Iran, a dissident organization said. The Moujahedeen Khalq, or People's Warriors, claimed that 340 more Iranians were captured in the attacks against military bases outside Mehran and Pirhanshahr by hundreds of opposition fighters. Meanwhile, Iran's official media reported that Kurdish guerrillas backed by Revolutionary Guards have killed or wounded 2,900 Iraqi soldiers in fighting in northeast Iraq since Friday. Baghdad communiques have denied there has been any significant military action in the region.
