The Laguna Beach Community Clinic is asking that people send it their California tax rebate checks.
The clinic has had a cutback in government funding, according to a spokeswoman, and needs private donations to continue its medical, counseling and legal assistance services. The clinic also operates a crisis and sexual-assault program that provides a 24-hour hot line.
The clinic expects to serve about 14,000 patients this fiscal year on a budget of about $500,000.
Donations may be given to to the clinic in general or to specific programs. Additional information on the clinic's services and where to send rebate checks may be obtained by calling (714) 494-9429 or (714) 494-0761.
