Local News in Brief : Improvements on Hold

November 29, 1987

Improvements to the Nakaoka Community Center in Gardena have been put on hold because bids by three construction firms to renovate the center averaged about $300,000 more than an architect's estimate of $340,000.

The council voted to reject all three bids, which ranged from $621,000 to $694,000. Mayor Donald L. Dear said the council will "evaluate other alternatives and perhaps require of the architect, or of a new architect, new plans."
