Sam Torrance of Scotland shot a 72 in the third round and took a one-stroke lead over David Ishii and Donnie Hammond with a 208 total in the $666,700 Casio World Open golf tournament at Kaimoncho, Japan.

Torrance missed a seven-foot par putt on the 18th hole of the 6,985-yard Kaimon course at the Ibusuki Golf Club.

At 210 were Kenny Knox, Keith Clearwater and George Burns, Australian Graham Marsh and Japanese Nobuo Serizawa.
