December 01, 1987

TransTechnology, a Sherman Oaks aerospace firm, said it was awarded a $5.1-million contract by the Navy to make parts used in emergency escape systems for F-14 fighter planes.

The parts, which are to be delivered this year, are explosives that cause the ejection of the fighter's pilot and co-pilot, a company spokeswoman said.
