Michigan State Senator to Quit; Admitted Drug Link

LANSING, Mich. — State Sen. Basil Brown, who has pleaded guilty to drug charges, said Wednesday that he will quit the Michigan Legislature by the first of the year, ending nearly 31 years of public service. He said he believes he was entrapped by investigators but does not want to put his colleagues through the ordeal of deciding whether to expel him.
