Irvine Lake Is Producing Big Trout

December 04, 1987

Big trout have been the main attraction for anglers at Irvine Lake in recent weeks, and boaters working the west shore are finding some of the best fishing since the season opener Oct. 29.

Brothers Verne, Vince and Jeff Martin of Long Beach each got five-fish limits, the stringer totaling 38 pounds 12 ounces. Dan Carlson of Costa Mesa did even better, taking home four rainbows weighing close to 27 pounds, the largest 10-12.
