Heidi's Frozen Yogurt Shoppes said it has received an $888,000 franchise development fee from Tokyo-based Nissin Sugar Manufacturing Co. to open more than 350 Heidi's stores in Japan over the next three years. In addition, the Laguna Hills-based chain announced that Heidi's and Nissin Sugar, along with a subsidiary of C. Itoh & Co., a Tokyo-based trading firm, have signed a master franchise agreement for the Japan development program. Heidi's, which will receive 2% of gross revenues from the stores, said it expects average annual sales of $350,000 per store. The company said the first three outlets are scheduled to open by next summer in the Tokyo area. There are more than 70 franchise and company-owned Heidi's stores in the United States.
