SARASOTA, Fla. — Doug Dalziel of Shelton, Conn., shot a 4-under-par 68 Saturday for a 72-hole total of 285 to become the medalist at the 1987 Senior PGA Tour National Qualifying School.

Lawrence Case of San Clemente, Friday's second-round leader, dropped into a four-way tie for 13th after he shot 80 Saturday and finished at 292.

The win placed Dalziel and 15 other players on the exempt list for the 1988 Senior tour. The first eight available players are eligible for all open co-sponsored events, and the other eight, including Case, will be alternates. There are expected to be more than 35 co-sponsored events in 1988, offering more than $14 million in total prize money.
