December 09, 1987|DEBORAH CAULFIELD | Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

English rock performers Sting and Peter Gabriel, African singer Youssou N'dour and others are scheduled to hold a press conference today in Sao Paulo, Brazil, to announce a concert tour in support of the human rights organization Amnesty International. The six-week tour, which will also include Bryan Adams and other acts to be named, will take place in late summer of 1988. In contrast to last year's star-studded Amnesty Tour of U.S. cities, organizers intend this time to play on every continent--and in some countries guilty of human-rights violations.
