A man firing a high-powered rifle rushed through a high-rise building in Melbourne's financial district, killing eight people, then crashed through an 11th-story window and fell to his death, police said. Five others were wounded, one seriously, in Australia's worst incident of random shooting. Police said it began when the 22-year-old gunman, whom they refused to identify, confronted another man in a dispute "not of the normal family, domestic type." Several shots were fired, but the second man was not hit. The gunman then ran through several floors of the building, firing indiscriminately, before he crashed through the window.
