Second Annual WinterFest Opens With Black-Tie Fete at Chandler Pavilion

The Music Center kicked off its second annual WinterFest celebration Monday night with a black-tie concert and party at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

The evening began with a lighting ceremony on the Music Center Plaza, followed by the unveiling of a new fountain. Cocktails preceded the concert by Wynton Marsalis.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Music Center Unified Fund, which supports the center's resident companies. Co-chairs for the event were Anne Johnson, Chardee Trainer and Lili Zanuck. Zanuck and Pierre Cossette were the producers.

WinterFest continues through Dec. 26 with free entertainment, decorations and food on the Music Center Plaza. The Edelweiss Singers and a talking Christmas tree perform Thursday from 6:5 0 to 7:50 p.m.; the USC Jazz Quartet and comic shoppers are on the plaza from 6:50 to 7:50 p.m. Friday; Saturday the Edelweiss Singers perform from 1 to 2 p.m. and the USC Chamber Singers and a talking Christmas present perform from 6:50 to 7:50 p.m.

Sunday will feature the James Linahon Quintet from 1:15 to 2:15 and the Aman Folk Orchestra and Mrs. Santa Claus from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m.; the USC Jazz Quartet performs Dec. 17 from 6:50 to 7:50 p.m.; the Goode Company performs Dec. 18 from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.; on Dec. 19 the James Linahon Quintet performs from 1:20 to 2:20 p.m. and the USC Chamber Singers and Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus appear from 6:50 to 7:50 p.m.; and on Dec. 26 Jingle Bear, the Ice Queen, a Toy Soldier and a walking puppet show are on from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m.
