SAN FRANCISCO — Assembly Speaker Willie Brown, now the Rev. Jesse Jackson's national campaign chairman, said Thursday that he believes his candidate can win the Democratic presidential nomination because he represents "a new force in politics."
"We don't operate on the theory that he is not going to win," Brown said at a press conference. "I don't know anyone who is not taking Jackson seriously."
Asked to assess Jackson's chances of winning the Democratic nomination, Brown said: "The sky's the limit. The Jackson movement is a new force in politics in this nation."
