Playing the 'Color Game' and Pursuing the American Dream

December 12, 1987

Education is an integral part of the American Dream. If Prof. Ray Otero doesn't believe the dream exists, he should quit teaching.

My father had to quit school to help support his family when he was young. When I was 11 years old I attended his graduation from high school (with honors). I was so proud of him!

My husband's uncle was raised on a poor dirt farm in Oklahoma. As a boy he went into town to work so that he could get the education he wanted so desperately. He went on to become a superintendent of schools. Otero can't tell me that the American Dream doesn't exist.
