Girl Killed By Accident By Robbers in Italy

December 14, 1987|Associated Press

MILAN, Italy — A 9-year-old girl was killed during a robbery attempt at her home when a bandit's rifle accidentally fired as he shoved her father, police said Sunday.

The same bullet that killed Alessandra Clivio on Saturday night badly wounded her mother, Marilena. The incident happened in the town of Arconate, 20 miles from Milan.

Police said the father, Ermanno Clivio, a construction company owner, implored the three armed men who burst into his home to take what they wanted and leave his family alone.

As one robber pushed him aside with a rifle butt, the weapon discharged, hitting Marilena Clivio in the shoulder and Alessandra in the head.
