Chiat/Day has been awarded Nissan's Canadian advertising business. The ad firm picked up Nissan's $150-million domestic advertising account. Although the size of the multimillion-dollar account was not disclosed, it is big enough to convince Chiat/Day to open a Toronto office--it's first office outside the United States. Chairman Jay Chiat said that the firm will now seek other Canadian advertisers. "We are poised for brisk expansion," Chiat said. "We've been looking at how to enter the Canadian market for the past couple of years."
