In reading "A Garage Is Not a Home" (Editorial, Nov. 28) I was startled to read not only one family's home is a garage, but that as many as 42,000 families live in makeshift garages.
It is deplorable that some human beings could be so merciless as to charge someone to live in his garage which has no heat, bathroom, windows, or hot water. It is sad to read that so many families must live under these conditions because a garage is all they can afford. It is obvious that Los Angeles needs and has needed some new housing for the poor and homeless.
