Color Systems Technology said it filed suit accusing American Film Technologies of infringing on its basic patent for converting black-and-white motion picture film to color video. Coincidentally, American Film Technologies' first colorized movie to be broadcast on television, "The Bells of St. Mary's," was shown Wednesday night on Channel 11. The suit in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles seeks an accounting of royalties and trebled damages in an amount to be determined. An American Film Technologies spokeswoman called the suit "totally without merit."
