Local News in Brief : Black Mayors Meeting

Black mayors from throughout the nation will be in Inglewood today for a meeting of the board of directors of the National Conference of Black Mayors.

Inglewood Mayor Edward Vincent will welcome 22 mayors to the three-day event at the Airport Park Hotel. The board of directors meets four times a year to set policy. This weekend's agenda includes discussion of the organization's plans for the 1988 presidential election.

Speaking at the event will be Mayor John Smith of Pritchard, Ala., the first Republican president of the National Conference of Black Mayors. Others expected to attend are Mayor James Usry of Atlantic City, N.J.; Mayor Robert Blackwell, Highland Park, Mich., and Richard Hatcher, former mayor of Gary, Ind.

The session is not open to the public.
