The average price of gasoline in the nation dropped to less than a dollar a gallon during the two weeks that ended on Dec. 18, according to the Lundberg Survey. The average price for all types of gasoline was 99.3 cents a gallon, the survey said. The largest price declines took place in the Midwest, as the effects of earlier price cuts in the Gulf of Mexico and New York Habor made their way inland.
