December 21, 1987| Associated Press

GOTEBORG, Sweden — Anders Jarryd and Mats Wilander completed a 5-0 Swedish sweep over India in the Davis Cup final by winning Sunday's singles matches in straight sets.

Jarryd, who replaced injured Stefan Edberg in the final, defeated Ramesh Krishnan, 6-4, 6-3, and Wilander beat Vijay Amritraj, 6-2, 6-0, on the red indoor clay courts.

The Swedish team, playing its fifth consecutive final and winning for the fourth time since 1975, received the huge silver trophy that Dwight Davis of Harvard inaugurated 87 years ago and a share of the $200,000 first prize.

The final two matches Sunday in the best-of-five series were shortened to three sets after Sweden had taken an unbeatable 3-0 lead in Saturday's doubles match.
