December 22, 1987

An El Toro man speeding down the wrong side of the road ran a red light and collided with two young bicyclists and another car in Stanton, police said.

Daniel Reznick, 37, was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving for the Saturday morning collision after he was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, according to Stanton Police Sgt. Hal Brotheim.

One of the bicyclists, Alfred Jones, 15, of Stanton, was listed in good condition Monday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. His friend, Andre Wright, 15, of Garden Grove, was listed in stable condition in the pediatrics intensive care unit at UCI Medical Center.

The driver of the second car, Doria Cosmo, 37, of Cardiff, and her passenger, Sharon Rhodes, 37, of Encinitas, were treated at local hospitals and released, police said.

A medical center spokeswoman said Monday that Reznick had been treated and released Saturday. Reznick was traveling north at a high rate of speed in the southbound lanes of Dale Street Saturday at about 11 a.m. when he failed to stop at a red light at Cerritos Avenue and collided with a car driven by Cosmo, police said. Reznick's car flipped over the second car and rolled into the two bicyclists.
