BRIEFLY

December 25, 1987

A. H. Robins' deadline for filing an amended plan of reorganization was extended to Jan. 6 by a federal judge, giving the pharmaceutical company more time to sort through its latest takeover offer. Robins received a buyout proposal Wednesday from American Home Products Corp; it was already weighing offers from Rorer Group of Philadelphia and from the French pharmaceutical firm Sanofi. Robins sought protection from creditors under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in 1985 in the face of injury claims from users of its Dalkon Shield intrauterine birth control device.
