The noise level during Game 2 of the World Series at Minneapolis was well above federal safety levels and roughly equivalent to standing behind a 1965 power lawn mower, researchers reported in Chicago.

Fan noise at the Metrodome reverberating off the Teflon roof on Oct. 18 ranged from 80 decibels to 125 and averaged 98.5, Dr. Steven Vincent and Thomas Hawkinson reported in a letter to the Journal of the American Medical Assn.
