Sherman Oaks Man, 73, Killed by Car

A Sherman Oaks man was killed when he attempted to cross Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood and walked into the path of a car, police said Monday.

Sidney Garfield, 73, died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday when he tried to walk north across the street at Hayworth Avenue and was struck by an eastbound car, police said. The driver, whose identity was not released, was not cited with any traffic violations, police said. An investigation is continuing.
