MIAMI — Cuba reported Wednesday that acquired immune deficiency syndrome has claimed six lives on the Caribbean island nation and that 21 others there are afflicted with AIDS.
In a broadcast by Radio Rebelde in Havana, monitored in Miami, Cuba's deputy public health commissioner, Hector Perry, said that in addition to the six deaths and 21 cases of AIDS, an additional 172 people have tested positive as carriers of the AIDS virus.
