It took three years and some maneuvering, but the main library in West Hollywood is about to get a new name.
On Sunday, San Vicente Library will officially become the West Hollywood Library.
City officials first sought the name change in 1984, shortly after West Hollywood was incorporated. Their efforts were blocked, however, because another library in Los Angeles was already using the name. That library has since been renamed.
Along with its new name, the West Hollywood Library will begin a six-month pilot program to provide Sunday service between 1 and 5 p.m., senior librarian John Butkis said.
The library is located at 715 N. San Vicente Blvd.
