A 20-8 spurt midway through the second half lifted Harbor College to an easy 94-74 victory over College of the Desert on Wednesday night at Harbor. The win, Harbor's opener in the Southern California Athletic Conference, was the Seahawks' seventh straight.
Harbor improved to 10-6, while Desert dropped to 9-11.
Harbor used a pressing defense during the second-half run, forcing Desert into 10 turnovers.
"We had one stint where we really played good defense," co-Coach Ken Curry said of Harbor's 20-8 run. "We didn't play as well as I wanted, but I think we really wore them down in the second half."
Seahawk forward Mike Lee led the way during the second half spurt with six of the 20 points. Lee finished with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
Hot-shooting guard Mark Hill led all scorers with 34 points. He pumped in 24 in leading the Seahawks to a 44-41 half-time advantage. Hill nailed three three-point shots along with several impressive drives.
