Kansas City Southern Industries said it will continue to press its bid for Southern Pacific Transportation Co. despite a previous agreement by Santa Fe Southern Pacific Corp. to sell the railroad to Rio Grande Industries for $1.8 billion. Santa Fe Corp. said that it believed Rio Grande's bid best met its criteria "in terms of the public interest, the interest of shareholders and expedition in implementing the transaction."
