NEW YORK — A man killed his former girlfriend with a shotgun blast and wounded her sister with another shot on a crowded subway platform under Grand Central Terminal during the evening rush hour Thursday, police said. No one else was hurt.
Detective Capt. Thomas Neff identified the gunman as John Royster, 38, and said he had eluded pursuers and escaped in the crowd.
Willye Jean Dukes, 36, was killed by a blast to the back from a 12-gauge shotgun. Her sister Diane Dukes, 32, who was shot in the arm, was listed in serious but stable condition, police said. A third sister on the platform was not hurt.
