POP EYE

January 10, 1988|PATRICK GOLDSTEIN

AND WAIT, THERE'S MORE: Pass the ketchup. Rock guitar slinger Ted Nugent is courting investors to help finance a new restaurant here. An avowed anti-vegetarian who bills himself as "America's best-known flesh eater," Nugent already has a moniker for the joint--Red Meat. As he semi-coherently explained: "The eatery is meant as a slap in the face to the ridiculous notion of spa cuisine and the growing problem of vegetarians in our culture." . . . Sammy, Frank and Dino aren't the only hepcats hitting the road--it seem as if everybody is gearing up for those big spring rock tours. Prince is due to announce a road show any day now. . . . Sting is slated to return for two nights at the Forum in late March. . . . And paging all headbangers: As soon as the weather warms up, watch for a colossal Monsters of Metal stadium tour--tentatively featuring Ozzy Osbourne, Motley Crue, Whitesnake and more.
