'Making Things Worse' in Gaza

January 10, 1988

In regards to the present situation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the territories under the Israeli occupation, I thank you for the continuous coverage and attention. The oppression in South Africa and Central America is equally important to what the Palestinian people are facing in their daily life.

In various media coverage, the Palestinian identity is being suppressed and the phrase "Arab resident" is replacing "Palestinian." No future peace can be seen until the Palestinians are given their self-determination and recognition of the PLO as their representatives. They should be included in any negotiations in the Middle East.

The United States media has been pampering the Israeli position. It is time that we should stand up for the human rights of the Palestinians and stop the blind support the Israeli government is receiving.
