Junior guard Stacey Hisaka of Fountain Valley High School hit a three-point shot against Compton, to tie the score, 53-53, with 1:09 to play Saturday.
But that was the best the Barons could do as they lost to Compton, 57-54, in a nonleague game at Fountain Valley.
Fountain Valley (9-7) trailed 17-10 after the first quarter, but closed to within one point, 29-28, at halftime.
Hisaka led the Barons with 17 points, and forward Melayne Green added 12 points and forward Renae Lambrigger had 11 points.
Julie Workman led Fountain Valley in rebounding with nine. Forward Sharon Hargrove scored 32 points to lead Compton (4-7).
