The World : Paris OKs Iranians' Move

January 14, 1988

France will allow seven Iranians expelled to Gabon last month to return "for humanitarian reasons" and has arranged for the rest of those expelled--five Iranians and three Turkish Kurds--to move to Spain, the Interior Ministry announced. Officials of the Moujahedeen, an Iranian dissident group, said that a 36-day hunger strike being carried out in Paris, Washington and London in support of the exiles would continue until the 15 are safely moved to their new locations. France has denied charges that the expulsion of the 15--all Moujahedeen sympathizers--was part of a deal with Tehran to gain freedom for French hostages held captive in Lebanon by elements loyal to Iran.
