Newport Beach police said Saturday they are investigating a possible embezzlement scheme at a luxury car dealership.
Lt. Tim Riley said the investigation centered on the Auto Gallery Newport Beach Motors dealership. He said detectives also wanted to question James Anderson, 39, president of Laguna Beach Motors, which owns the Newport dealership.
Police said they began investigating the dealership after receiving complaints from customers who had left their cars there to be sold. The customers said the dealership failed to pay them their consignment fees, Riley said.
Police said the dealership closed Friday and that the employees had all been dismissed.
Riley said anyone who had a complaint about the dealership should call detectives at 644-3761.
