Widening of Canyon Road

January 17, 1988

The unanimous decision rendered by the Laguna Beach City Council Jan. 5 on the fate of Laguna Canyon Road was a basic lesson in watching five elected officials being swayed by a group of activists bordering on hysteria.

Mention not in mournful number the deaths, to say nothing of the agonizing injuries, this Camino de la Muerte has spawned over the past 20 years. The irresponsible action of the City Council on Jan. 5th only prolongs the time of unnecessary carnage within the limits of our "little village."

May this current council, and all those who swayed its decision, learn to live with the blood on their selfish hands.
