David Hicks, interior designer to Britain's Royal Family, has been elected president of the first British chapter of the Los Angeles-based International Society of Interior Designers.

Patti Richards of Los Angeles, the newly elected chairman of the Society, led a delegation of other new officers to the chartering ceremony in London.

In the delegation were Peter von der Geest, president, and Carole Price Shanis, first vice president, both of New York City; Ronna Daskal, second vice president, of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Lili Kray, immediate past second vice president, of Chicago.

Other new officers are Michael Cushwa, chief financial officer, High Point, N.C.; Marcia Troyan, secretary, Marlboro, N.J., and Alvin Cain, international trade liaison, High Point.

Along with establishing the British chapter, the society also opened a student chapter at London's Inchbald School of Design. The Society has 24 chapters with two overseas, including one in Tokyo.
