Pitcher Bob Stanley of the Boston Red Sox was listed in good condition after surgery on his right (throwing) hand to repair tendons and nerves that were cut when he fell while taking out the trash.

Red Sox officials said the 11-year veteran will be in the hospital for several days and that doctors are unsure whether the injury will cause permanent damage.
