Lakers Pay First Visit to Denver

January 21, 1988|GORDON EDES

DENVER — The Lakers, winners of 17 of their last 18 games, make their first visit of the season here to play the Nuggets, who have lost 10 in a row to Los Angeles.

The Lakers beat the Nuggets, 127-119, at the Forum Nov. 27, when A.C. Green scored a career-high 28 points and had 16 rebounds. That more than compensated for the absence of James Worthy, who sat out the game with a sore knee.

The Lakers, who have the league's best road record at 12-5, have won 8 of their last 9 games away from home. They have held 13 of their last 14 opponents under 50% in shooting. They will return home to play the New York Knicks Friday night.
