Craig Heyward, running back at the University of Pittsburgh, said he would skip his senior season and petition the National Football League to conduct a supplemental draft. Heyward cannot be selected in the NFL's regular April draft because he has college eligibility remaining.

Heyward said he needed the money, since he is from a low-income family of eight and is a father himself. He also said he was frustrated by the way the university handled a recent incident in which he was arrested after an altercation with campus police.
