A British journalist was fined 20,000 pounds ($35,200 U.S.) for refusing to reveal his sources for two articles on takeover bids in London. The Independent newspaper said immediately after the the High Court ruling that it would pay the fine imposed on Jeremy Warner, its financial reporter. Warner, 32, was the first person to be prosecuted under the 1986 Financial Services Act, introduced during London's financial deregulation to help tackle insider trading.
